A strange document from the Trump administration was reportedly leaked by Billie Eilish for “destroying our country and everything.”
The unexpected claim comes via The Washington Post, in a new article that details how the Trump administration made a series of politically motivated changes to a $ 250 million advertising campaign designed to “conquer despair and inspire hope” amid the darkness of the coronavirus.
The campaign was to feature a diverse celebrity series, but WaPo says Trump’s Assistant Public Affairs Secretary Michael Caputo suggested instead that the ads should focus on the theme “Helping the president help the country.”
Trump and a range of political figures would then have left out anyone who criticized the president – Eilish being criticized.
According to a document obtained by the Publish, Eilish was blocked because she “is not a Trump supporter.” She was also accused of “destroying our country and everything that matters to us”.
The Trump administration has also reportedly blocked figures like Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Justin Timberlake – believing it was liberals who backed Barack Obama and gay rights.
In the end, only 10 celebrities were approved for the program, including Latin singer Marc Anthony, country stars Billy Ray Cyrus, Miranda Lambert and Garth Brooks, and Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias.
The Trump administration has yet to comment on the allegations, but Stereogum reports that Caputo is currently on 60 days leave after controversial comments made during a live stream on Facebook.
It comes days before the US election (November 3), with Eilish previously voicing his support for Joe Biden.
