Tristan Thompson officially became a U.S. citizen following his decision to join the Boston Celtics, after moving to the United States in 2009 on a student visa.
As the Toronto-born star attended his swearing-in ceremony, he proudly pledged his allegiance to the United States, where he resides with Khloé Kardashian and their two-year-old, True.
“I came to the United States on a student visa and have always had big dreams. I’m now truly living the American dream, ” the NBA player said in a statement to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services earlier this week.

The basketball player, who also shares a three-year-old with ex Jordan Craig, looked proud as he completed his final step to receive his naturalization certificate.
In a photo accompanying the USCIS tweet, Thompson raised his right hand in front of an American flag and sported a black long sleeve and athletic pants.
During the ceremony, he kept his nose a mouth covered under a black mask amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The exciting news comes after he signed a two-year, $ 19 million contract with the Boston Celtics, as his agent Rich Paul of Clutch Sports confirmed to Yahoo Sports last Saturday.
Thompson, who was the fourth overall pick in the NBA Draft, averaged 9.4 points and 8.7 rebounds for his career in the sport, according to the outlet.

“They will be living together in Boston and Los Angeles,” the outlet insider said.
“All of Khloe’s friends really love Tristan. Even though what he did was so horrible, they know Tristan is a great guy and Khloe is very dedicated to making their relationship work, ” their source said.
