Floyd Mayweather may have retired 50-0, but his coach believes the 44-year-old is yet to finish professionally.
The former four-weight world champion hasn’t fought professionally since going 50-0 with his win over Conor McGregor in 2017.
However, Mayweather’s trainer, Gerald Tucker, saw enough of Mayweather during his last training camp to believe the comeback could happen.
‘Money’ is preparing for a showdown with YouTuber Money Kicks in Dubai next month, but Tucker thinks Mayweather has more to give than exposure.
Tucker said, “I think he’s going to fight a few times every year.
“It’s a lot of money and there are people like me, big fans of Floyd’s style who want to see him in the ring just to show off his skills, which are unmatched in the history of the sport.
“I think he’ll do that just for people like me. But, I’m also optimistic, maybe we’ll see Floyd fight one day.
“I don’t give away any secrets or anything, I just have hope, I feel it.
“None of anything he said, just the way he looks in the gym and how easy it is for him to beat people in fights.
“And I mean guys who could be world champions in a year or two.
“So yeah, I’m very optimistic we’ll see him back in the ring one more time and put his undefeated and clear record on the line.”
Mayweather destroyed Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in an exhibition in 2018, but he couldn’t put away Logan Paul in a fight last summer.
Granted, Paul weighed more than two stone more than Mayweather with a big height advantage, but “The Best Ever” looked dejected after the contest and suggested he would never fight again.
But, he also enjoys “legalized bank robberies” as he calls these exhibits and Tucker thinks Mayweather remains ready for the right opportunity.
“A lot of people who have reached this elite level in their careers are the same, they care about their name, their heritage, how they look every time.
“No matter the circumstances, you’re going to care about how you look and be happy with yourself.
“That’s why you never catch him slipping, he’s always training just in case.
“We FaceTime each other between camps and we’ll be on the treadmill or outside running, just to keep in shape.
“He’s always ready, he takes it as seriously as if it were a real fight.”
