The thorny new teaser that came out on Monday for the next six-part series sees Jude touring the island and meeting some of its intriguing residents.

The beginning of the clip shows Jude’s character, Sam, arriving on the island with a voice in the background saying, “ Who are you? Something terrible happened to this person. Well, you’re not here.
The voice then continues: “When was the last time you really let go of Sam?” There is something special about this place.
A man then confronts Sam and says, “Times have been tough, we have gone through bad things, but helping people is the reason for this place.

Before Jude responds and says, “Thank you, but I can’t stay.
With a foreshadowing tone, the character responds, “Then you have to come with us before the road closes and you find yourself stuck in paradise forever.”
An excerpt from the trailer also includes a glimpse of Naomie Harris’ character, Helen.
Sam then goes to the pavement and finds that it is submerged in water, the trailer takes a frightening turn when the character of Emily Watson, a barmaid, says to Sam: “Well, you can not go.
The voice then continues, “When was the last time you really let Sam go?” There is something special about this place ”
Other scenes show Jude watching a burning caravan and screaming as he crosses a field, while a voice continues: “ Something terrible has happened here and it’s raging inside.
“Most people are afraid of the pain, but they don’t know how hot it can be.”
On the third day, the actor, Sam, is drawn to a mysterious island off the British coast where he meets an unusual new world with the island’s secret inhabitants.

An official press release gave an overview of the synopsis, which said: “Isolated from the mainland, the rituals of the island are beginning to overwhelm him and he is facing a trauma from his past.
“As the line between reality and fantasy blurs, Sam finds himself plunged into an emotional quest that puts him at odds with the islanders and begins to threaten their way of life.”
Cameron Roach, who is director of Drama and Sky Studios, Sky UK and Ireland, said there would be a world class cast.

He revealed: “ Sky Studios is thrilled to partner with Plan B, Punchdrunk International and HBO on this exciting series.
“The third day is the result of the intoxicating combined imagination of Dennis Kelly and Felix Barrett of Punchdrunk International and gave rise to amazing scripts.
“To see them come to life under the leadership of Marc Munden and with Jude Law leading what promises to be a world class cast is an incredibly exciting prospect.”

There will be six one-hour long episodes, all directed by Utopia and BAFTA winning director Marc Munden.
The third day follows on from Sky and HBO’s recent blockbuster mini-series, Chernobyl, which scored higher IMDb than Game Of Thrones and Breaking Bad.
Filming began for the new show in July and is scheduled to air in the United Kingdom and the United States in May later this year.
The third day will be available on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV for UK viewers, while American viewers can watch it on HBO.
