Moab in Utah is known for the plethora of activities it can offer adventure seekers, but for off-road enthusiasts, the name is considered a mecca for testing their rigs. Not every vehicle can conquer the steep climbs and slippery rocks of Moab, but we know of one vehicle that can certainly conquer them: the Toyota Land Cruiser.
As seen in the video above, a parade of Toyota Land Cruisers – mostly 80 and 100 series models from the 90s – attempted to conquer Moab and succeeded. Not only did they pull it off, but they also made the rock crawling and steep climb through “Skyline Drive” feel basic.

While many premium vehicles these days are designed to haul groceries and conquer mall parking lots, Toyota Land Cruisers are not the same. They’re actually designed for adventures beyond the sidewalk. I believe we can all agree that regardless of generation, LCs will always be off-road beasts presented in a luxurious package.
The convoy seen above, courtesy of YouTube WinchExterior, crossed the country to reach Moab. The 80 and 100 series seem to have few changes except maybe some additions for underbody protection.
That said, all the traversal of the LCs featured here was impressive and a nod to the extreme off-road capabilities the nameplate is world famous for.
Unfortunately, if you want to buy a brand new Land Cruiser in the United States, that will no longer be possible. Toyota has dropped the LC from its lineup since last year, although its Lexus TNGA platform twin, the LX, may be your more expensive option.
Toyota North America, however, hasn’t closed in on the possibility of the nameplate’s return. That said, if this video proved the LC’s off-road prowess and made you want to buy one, you can either buy the old ones but the goodies, or wait for Toyota to bring the new 300 series to the United States.
