Toyota Canada wants you to prove you deserve to WIN A GR Corolla Morizo

Toyota Canada has a contest that gives nine people the opportunity to purchase the GR Corolla Morizo Edition. The selection is not random, however. The automaker wants links to attendees’ social media accounts and asks about the person’s automotive enthusiasm.

It’s unclear from the contest rules if these nine examples of the 2023 Corolla Morizo GR are the only ones available in Canada. Motor1.com contacted Toyota about this and the possibility of a similar program for the United States.

Toyota separates participants into western, central and eastern regions. The company will select two winners from the west, four from the central area and three from the east. Those folks will still have to buy the GR Corolla Morizo Edition for the retail price of CA$59,990.

Questions for participants include whether the person is a member of motoring clubs or motorsport groups, including esports. Toyota also wants to know the year, make, model and trim levels of previous performance car owners. Plus, things like favorite Canadian race tracks and the best stretch of road in the country to drive on.

Another interesting question is: “What are your intentions and expectations regarding the GR Corolla Morizo Edition?” The options are Daily Commuter, Secondary Vehicle, Tracked Vehicle, and Collectible.

When announcing the Morizo Edition, Toyota said, “For the United States, only 200 numbered units will be produced for the 2023 model year.” Prices on this market start at $50,995.

The Morizo uses a version of the 1.6-liter G16E-GTS turbocharged three-cylinder engine that makes 295 lb-ft (400 Newton-meters), instead of 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) for the regular and Circuit model. Editing. Power remains at 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts).

The top-of-the-line model comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, but with shorter ratios than lower variants.

The Morizo Edition has a stripped back section with no seats, speakers, window regulators or rear wiper. It helps to lose 106 pounds (48 kilograms) compared to other models. It rolls on 18-inch forged wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

The Morizo will go on sale in 2023, but exactly when deliveries will start is unclear.
