When Neymar needed it, he found a new friend
But he was soon smiling again as his opponent’s son ran over to give him a hug.
Perisic had already comforted Neymar after Croatia secured their place in the semi-finals by beating the Selecao on penalties.
And his son, Leo, followed his example.
The youngster entered the pitch after the final whistle and ran towards where Neymar was standing with his other stunned teammates.
At first, Neymar had his back to him, but then Leo patted him on the shoulder to get his attention.
Perisic’s son then appears to give her some words of comfort, leading the pair to embrace in a wholesome exchange.
Neymar ruffles Leo’s hair, before the youngster runs off the pitch and the Brazilian star joins the rest of his squad.

Brazil had led 1-0 in added time, but a late equalizer from Bruno Petkovic sent the game to a penalty shoot-out and Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic again saved the day to send them through to the semi-finals.
Croatia will now face the winner of Friday’s second quarter-final between Argentina and the Netherlands.
