Tottenham’s latest ‘season of woes’ is so bad a Spurs fan wants his daughter to back Arsenal instead!
Spurs have won just three of their last 13 Premier League games as Jose Mourinho’s side languish in ninth place.
Gaz called talkSPORT to insist that he ‘has never been a fan of Mourinho’ and that he wouldn’t even be bothered if his 12-year-old daughter Emma changes allegiance to the red half of North London.
“What’s wrong with Spurs?” Gaz began as he joined the Sports Bar. “Mourinho! They have become obsolete.
“All that hype when we came out on top in December… I’ve never been a fan of Mourinho, I didn’t want him to be there from the start.
“Top of the table in December?” forget that! It’s another season of woes.
“My poor daughter now supports Spurs, and I said to her: ‘You have to change your team!’ Anyone except Spurs. “
Tottenham have not won a trophy since winning the League Cup in 2008.
Mourinho is fortunate enough to ease some of the pressure when his side take on Man City in the Carabao Cup final in April, but Pep Guardiola’s side are favorites and are currently on a menacing 18-game winning streak.
Gaz claims he would tell his daughter to ‘go there’ if she wanted to support Tottenham’s rival Arsenal.
TalkSPORT host Andy Goldstein asked, “Knowing the heartache you think your almost 13-year-old daughter might experience in the next five, 10, 15 or 20 years of her life, if she told you: ‘yes or no, dad, should I support Arsenal from now on? ‘, what would you say?
Gaz replied: “It’s difficult because my friend is a big Arsenal fan.
“I would say, ‘yes, go ahead. We will always be a quasi team. “
Goldstein jovially called Gaz’s admission a “ shame, ” while co-host Jason Cundy called it “ disgusting. ”
When asked why he wasn’t following his own advice in changing teams and supporting Arsenal, Gaz replied: “Well I think I could do it!
“If Mourinho stays, it’s the Spurs left for me, I will start supporting another club!”
