Top Gear gets closer with the Koenigsegg Gemera and Jesko Absolut

Due to health problems linked to the recent epidemic of CoronaVirus, Sweden, headquarters of the Geneva Motor Show, has banned all events with more than a thousand participants, which has led to the cancellation of the famous auto showroom. This news has led many car manufacturers to reveal online the launches of their planned products, because the show must continue in the world of automotive innovation. Koenigsegg had already set up his stand and cars at the show, so they invited the Top Gear team to film the launch of two very powerful models, the Gamera and the Jesko Absolut.

Many believe that modern supercars simply don’t matter. When a new Ferrari and McLaren special edition arrives, many are prone to yawn or ignore if collectibles covered in carbon fiber have hit dealerships for the growing billionaire class. Koenigsegg is different because they don’t build supercars, they build engineering marvels that happen to be hypercars.

The Gemera is Koenigsegg’s first four-seater car to give the whole family a hypercar thrill thanks to unique innovations such as its camshaftless engine and its unique electric powertrain. The Gemera may look like a typical Koenigsegg at first glance, but this wonder pack has room for four occupants, three electric motors, a battery and a motor. This powerful combination of electric motors and an engine without camshaft results in a hypercar of 1700 horses which can pass from 0 to 60 in 1.9 seconds.

If top speed is more attractive than a hypercar that can accommodate four people, look no further than the Jesko Absolut. With a theoretical top speed of more than 330 mph, the Jesko Absolut removes the aerodynamics of the high downforce of the normal Jesko in favor of a slippery profile that allows its ridiculous top speed aspirations.

Getting excited about modern supercars can be difficult, but the creations that Koensegg continues to publish certainly deserve our attention. We can’t wait to see these machines in action.
