According to a press release from Samsung, one of the most important features of One UI 5 will be Bixby Text Call, which allows users to answer the phone by typing a message instead of talking to the person on the other end of the phone. line. According to Samsung, the feature will read typed text with a synthetic voice for the person on the other end of the line, then convert their voice to plain text. The company says this feature will come in handy when users need to communicate in a noisy environment, such as on a busy train or at a loud concert.
New Features in Samsung’s One UI 5
Another new feature in One UI 5 is Modes, which allows users to create custom settings for different times of day. For example, under the plan, users can turn off notifications when it’s time to exercise, turn off all sounds, and turn on dark mode at bedtime. The company also claims to have refined the notification experience in One UI 5 to be more intuitive and easier to read at a glance. The new software also offers simpler video editing options, as well as stacked widgets that allow users to drag and drop widgets on top of each other to save screen space. Once widgets are placed on top of each other, users can swipe right or left to quickly scroll through them. Another notable new feature in One UI 5 is OCR (Optical Character Recognition), which allows users to extract text from images. The feature is currently available in iOS 16.
One UI 5 also has a new Connected Devices menu that will give users quick and easy access to all features that work with other devices, such as Quick Share, Smart View, and Samsung DeX. There is also an Auto-switch Buds menu which allows users to seamlessly switch their Galaxy Buds connection from one device to another. Finally, One UI 5 also brings a revamped security and privacy dashboard that allows users to easily get a quick overview of the security status of the device.
