Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire are “great” players who will be important to Manchester United for years to come, suggests Tony Cascarino.
The two are new players for the Red Devils, Fernandes arriving in January while Maguire signed last summer.
United have improved significantly since Portuguese midfielder Fernandes joined, having not lost in their last nine games.
Fernandes has scored two goals and collected two assists in four Premier League games.
They have a big game Sunday as local rivals hosted from Manchester City to Old Trafford.
And Cascarino praised Fernandes, declaring on GameDay Breakfast: “He’s not the fastest but he has incredibly fast feet – a great right foot.
“Great on set kicks. They missed this guy at Man United – a guy who can kick in regularly and put him on six pence.
“They needed this type of player who can change a game with a pass. Man City had this guy with David Silva… he accelerates the team.
“It’s the first days but it [Fernandes] has been great for United. “
Maguire has returned to form in recent weeks, scoring his first goal for the club in a useful victory at Chelsea last month.
The defender has recently been named club captain and Cascarino believes Maguire will remain in the position for a long time.
He added: “Maguire did very well at the start of the season for Manchester United.
“Then they had a bit of a dip, but he was back to his best against Everton. I thought he was great… he set an example and succeeded.
“I still think it’s going to be a very good player for Manchester United … I think they have a captain for the next five years.”
