Tony Cascarino suggests that recent history repeats itself for Jose Mourinho at Tottenham while negativity continues to surround the club.
The Spurs are winless in their last four games in all competitions, leaving a difficult battle in the Champions League, losing initiative in the first four races and being drained of the FA Cup by Norwich.
Mourinho’s old tenure at Manchester United quickly deteriorated as field results worsened, and Cascarino suggests the same is happening now at Spurs.
“Isn’t it amazing how the carnage follows Mourinho? Especially in the past few years,” he told Weekend Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT.
“Whatever happens, you get the impression that there will be an incident that has not happened anywhere else.
“His record is there for everyone to see – it’s amazing. He was a winner, but what follows after winning is a manager who takes care of the lives of some people.
“You are either in his camp or you are not, and if you are not, expect the worst from Jose.”
Troy Parrott, the 18-year-old forward who missed his penalty in a shootout loss to Norwich on Wednesday, appears to be on the wrong side of Mourinho at the moment.
The Spurs boss finally answered calls to play the teen striker on Wednesday night, getting him out of the bench in overtime.
However, the manager criticized Parrott’s performance after the match.
“The problem is not the penalty,” said Mourinho. “The problem is the 30 minutes.
“Now people can see that he has to work a lot, so don’t think Parrott is the second Harry Kane because he’s just a young kid who needs to work.”
And Cascarino suggests that the Spurs manager’s blow to Parrott highlights how Mourinho may be mismanaging his players.
“He [Parrott] may not be ready, and Jose may be right, ”added Cascarino.
“But you build players and make them feel like they are 10 feet tall when they go on the field – which has not happened with Troy Parrott.
“He [Mourinho] has already sown doubt in the minds of fans. He said missing the penalty midweek was not the problem, it was the half hour he had played.
“I thought to myself, ‘Jose – you have to get the most out of this boy.’ Management is about outdoing yourself and I don’t think he managed Troy Parrott well. ‘
