Tom Hiddleston has hinted that his romance with Taylor Swift has changed the way he approaches his career.
The actor dated the musician for three months in 2016, and their relationship caused a media frenzy.
Hiddleston made headlines after being pictured wearing a tank top emblazoned with the words ‘I love TS’, leading fans to believe the romance was actually part of an extravagant music video.
The actor, who will return as Marvel villain Loki on his own TV show in June, has visibly kept his head down for the past few years and, while speaking to Empire, suggested that this media storm was one of the reasons.

Hiddleston described it as “a moment of reflection,” suggesting that this increased popularity made him even more cautious about the number of roles he took on.
“Some things crossed my path and I thought about them carefully, but they didn’t feel quite right, so I didn’t do them,” he said.
“I had played so many different people in so many different parts of the world, and it’s very important to distinguish what’s real in your own life and deal with those things.
He continued, “Because if you don’t take care of them, they can be lost, or they can be marginalized, and then you come home one day and they are no longer there.
The actor compared his point of view to that held by Tilda Swinton’s vampire character in Only lovers will stay alive, the 2013 drama Jim Jarmusch Hiddleston also starred in.
“She says life is about surviving things, enjoying nature, nurturing kindness and friendship, and dancing – so maybe in the moment I needed to come back and do it.
“I don’t know, to be honest, that I danced a lot. I should have danced more. But I’m sure some people would say I danced too much.
Hiddleston’s full interview will appear in the new issue of Empire, which goes on sale Thursday (April 15) and available for pre-order here.
