New York @ Tennessee
Last season’s records: Tennessee 12-5; New York 4-13
What there is to know
The Tennessee Titans and New York Giants open their 2022 seasons against each other at 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday at Nissan Stadium. Tennessee is coming off a 12-5 season with hopes of advancing past the second round of the playoffs, where it was eliminated by the Cincinnati Bengals 19-16. On the other hand, back after a rocky 4-13 year, New York sets out to prove that the past doesn’t define them.
Some offensive stats from last season to watch: The Titans were third-best in rushing touchdowns, finishing the 2021 season with 23. Less enviably, the Giants ranked worst in overall offensive touchdowns last season, where the team has only accumulated 23. The good news for New York, of course, is that those forces working against them may not carry over into the new season.
Tennessee has the odds in their favor, so they will need to guard against complacency. These early season matchups can go both ways when both teams get back into shape.
