Times News Release of Six Aztecs Basketball Games – The San Diego Union-Tribune

Four days before the opening of its basketball season against Cal State Fullerton at the Viejas Arena, San Diego State finally knows the time of the forecast and broadcasts the information: 7 p.m. on YurView.

The delay stemmed from finalizing a television deal for six home games that had not been selected by CBS or Fox Sports under Mountain West’s media rights deal. These games go back to the university, which can sell them on the local market.

Bally Sports, a regional sports network that airs Padres games, has had disputes with the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers. Instead, the opener against Fullerton and five other home dates will air on YurView, available on Cox (channels 4 and 1004) and Spectrum (channel 4) for San Diego County cable subscribers. The games will also be available through the web stream on YurView.com and the Mountain West Network through a link on GoAztecs.com.

The Nov. 11 game against BYU will end at 7:30 p.m. The others will start at 7:00 p.m.: November 29 against UC Irvine, December 2 against Occidental, December 5 against Troy and December 12 against Kennesaw. State.

This means that all 30 games of this season will be available on some sort of TV or stream. All 18 Mountain West games are on Fox, Fox Sports 1 or CBS Sports Network. All three Maui Invitational games during Thanksgiving week are on ESPN networks. Nov. 15 at Stanford is on the Pac-12 Network, Dec. 10 against Saint Mary’s in Phoenix on the ESPN+ streaming service, and Dec. 20 against UC San Diego on FS1.

Presidential statement

SDSU President Adela de la Torre released a statement about athletic director John David Wicker being considered a candidate for the vacant AD position at Mississippi State, her alma mater.

“JD is an important leader and is doing great things for San Diego,” de la Torre said. “He remains the top fit for SDSU, is value driven and a major partner. As JD himself said, there are many opportunities ahead. We are confident that we will achieve incredible victories, on and off the pitch, in the future.

Wicker’s original five-year contract at SDSU was extended for two years. It expires in June and earns him around $400,000 a year. Mississippi State’s outgoing DA John Cohen made $1.1 million a year.

Tickets

A few hundred tickets are available for Monday’s opening. They range from $10 for a bench seat at the top of Viejas Arena to $130 closer to the field. In past years, unclaimed tickets in the 2,500-seat student section went on sale 48 hours before reporting as unreserved seats, typically for $20.

Even fewer are available for BYU four days later, most being individual seats. Benches are $35 for this game.
