TORONTO — — Pascal Siakam had 27 points and 10 rebounds and the Toronto Raptors extended their season-high home winning streak to seven by beating the Minnesota Timberwolves 122-107 on Saturday night.
Jakob Poeltl had 14 points and 11 rebounds, tying his career high with his fourth straight double-double, to help the Raptors improve to 24-4 all-time in home meetings with Minnesota.
Fred VanVleet scored 28 points for Toronto, while Gary Trent Jr. added 19, OG Aunoby 15 and Scottie Barnes 10.
Rudy Gobert had 14 points and 12 rebounds and Naz Reid scored 22 points for the Timberwolves, who were playing the second game in a row. Minnesota lost in double overtime to Chicago on Friday.
Wolves played without goalkeeper Anthony Edwards, who left in the first quarter on Friday with a sprained right ankle. Coach Chris Finch said Edwards uses a walking boot, adding there is no timeline for his return. All-Star for the first time this season, Edwards was injured when he landed awkwardly after jumping while throwing a pass.
Jaden McDaniels scored 18 points and Mike Conley and Kyle Anderson each had 12 as Wolves lost for the fifth time in six games.
The Timberwolves haven’t won north of the border since Jan. 21, 2004, when Sam Cassell, Kevin Garnett and Latrell Sprewell were Wolves’ top scorers in a 108-97 win.
Toronto’s only home loss in the series since was a 116-112 loss on Feb. 14, 2021, when the Raptors were playing in Tampa, Fla., due to border restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
VanVleet shot 6 for 9 and scored 15 in the first. Poeltl shot 6-for-6 and scored 12 points as Toronto led 32-26 after one.
Siakam scored 10 points in the second and Anunoby had 11, including a 3-pointer with less than a second remaining that gave the Raptors a 66-58 halftime advantage.
Reid’s field goal with 4:16 left in the third gave Minnesota its first lead since the opening minutes of the game, but Toronto closed the quarter with an 11-2 run to take a 94-85 lead in the fourth. .
