Rory McIlroy says Tiger Woods “is doing better” and could be home “in a week or so” after sustaining serious injuries in a car crash.
McIlroy said Woods was in a good mood.
“I hope if things go well next week he can maybe come home,” McIlroy told The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in the United States.
McIlroy said Woods even criticized his form, including a 76 final at the Arnold Palmer Invitational on Sunday.
“I’ve talked to him a bit, he’s better. I think all the guys have contacted him,” said the Northern Irishman.
“We all wish him a speedy recovery at this point.
“He sent me encouraging words before the last round of Bay Hill on Sunday and things didn’t quite go as planned and he was the first to text me and say ‘Que is happening here? “
“So even from the hospital bed it still gives me a little warmth.”
McIlroy was among the players who Woods thanked for the “touching” gesture to wear his red and black signature for the final round of the WGC-Workday Championship, five days after his accident.
