Spy

The Abernant Stakes was won by Garrus last year by a head against Commanche Falls.

The winner, however, has not been at the same level since, losing 5 pounds of weight since this victory.

Spycatcher is doing very well and has competed in two Group 1 races in his last three outings, so he should not be ruled out here in great form.

And it could be even better at age six with a ton of experience and a great round-trip price.

Eben Shaddad

Three races at two years old, each encouraging in its own way.

On his debut, he won easily at 4/1 before moving up to a Group 3, coming up against only two classy horses, Alyanaabi and Boiling Point. Each of them strengthened this form of running.

Then last time here on 7f he once again placed behind City Of Troy and Alyanaabi, confirming that his score of 98 was well below his ability and also proving that he can be a Group 1 horse.

At the age of three, with a hood for the first time, he should travel more efficiently and not be as enthusiastic, while the increased travel will necessarily suit the way he trained in the Dewhurst la last time.

He stayed well to maintain third place and faces tough opposition here, but among the favorites in a wide-open competition.

Looking for a queen

Consistent at the age of two, this filly should be up to the task given her form in 2023.

She placed just behind Circe at Doncaster on soft ground on her first start over 7f at 16/1.

Her second attempt will be much better and this Churchill filly should thrive over this distance having not been quite suited to the faster 6f sprints.

Circe then placed in a Group 3 containing 1000 Guineas contender Dance Sequence, so there is certainly hope that she can come back well enough to prove that 9/1 is a value play either way.

Juniper

Two wins from two in 2024 and both were won by Harry Cobden for trainer Anthony Honeyball.

Both victories came in Class 4 handicap races for mares and she showed truly impressive form each time to win by such margins.

Clearly in great shape at the age of ten and should not be sidelined from the weights again as the handicapper attempts to understand her potential.

Juniper’s previous two races took place last April, where she came second to My Silver Lining, who also proved to be in decent form.

Lady Adare

1st on his seasonal debut in October at 3/1 and showed further improvement when second to Knappers Hill in November in the Grade 2 Rising Stars at Wincanton.

However, she was stopped in the listed mare race at Exeter nine days later, which appears to have been simply too soon, coupled with a 9lb increase.

However, she has since rested and has all the makings of a growing mare with a real value of 5/1 in a race like this, even as a top weight.
