Thriller Jackdaw features the Northeast as a location

“And I could see all this coastline,” he said.

“Seal Sands, which has all the oil refineries and everything, is so cinematic. You go there at night and it’s lit up like a Christmas tree.

“And what I keep telling people is that when Ridley Scott lived here when he was younger, this landscape inspired the view of Los Angeles in the first Bladerunner.

“Obviously it never filmed there, but I felt like I could shoot that as a backdrop, as a free production value, you know.

“Choosing these locations around this coast, which I knew had really cinematic value, you get all of that essentially for free, so you’re shooting footage in front of these things, and the production value is incredible.”

He hopes other filmmakers will be inspired and choose the North East as their filming location.
