Thomas Tuchel dismisses Bayern Munich win against Cologne, eyes Champions League tie against Arsenal – Bavarian Football Works

Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel had to forfeit a one-match Bundesliga ban on Saturday after accumulating too many yellow cards. The 50-year-old saw Bayern take care of business against FC Köln, albeit not quite convincingly, and appears eager to move on.

After all, Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal looms just ahead.

“We had big chances in the first half, 3-4 big chances in the box, but then we scored the first goal from outside the box,” Tuchel summed up of the Cologne match (captured via@iMiaSanMia). “Overall, it is not easy to maintain the highest level of concentration between two extremely important matches. Right now, Kingsley [Coman]The injury is our biggest concern. He was back in the starting XI for the first time after a long time. It’s really a shame.

Tuchel’s bench at Bayern has been light of late and the loss of Coman will be another blow. So was Bayern’s less-than-confident display against a Bundesliga side avoiding relegation.

But at least, if Cologne was a trap match, the Bavarians did not fall first.

“We have a lot of room for improvement in our performances,” Tuchel added (as captured by Ransport editor-in-chief Martin Volkmar, via @iMiaSanMia). “We have done the minimum to prepare Arsenal calmly. It will be a 50-50 match, we have to play to the absolute limit. I feel extremely sorry for Kingsley, he is a key player for us.
