This magnificent concept might make you forget that Microsoft removed Windows XP – Neowin

The first week of 2024 has been interesting for you if you enjoy a bit of retro Microsoft and Windows news. We’ve covered a cool utility program called “MSBob” that attempts to take inspiration from the failed Microsoft Bob project. The app is still in preparation and may become a more refined and useful version later.

Aside from that, we also took a little walk down memory lane to the 1980s, when the first known version of 86-DOS – the operating system that is the ancestor of MS-DOS – was discovered with a photo of the original disk. Also.

Most PC users today, however, are much more familiar with the Windows graphical user interface (GUI) than with DOS, and despite all the modernization efforts that have been made on the user interface, many, including Neowin forum members, seem to have a weakness for older versions of Windows, like Windows 95, XP, etc.

YouTuber AR 4789, who creates and shares interesting Windows concepts, has released his latest video that might quench the thirst of those who have always wanted a more modern version of Windows XP with the feel and touch of Windows 11. looks refined and modern. to 11 with colors and style as well as the famous Bliss wallpaper reminiscent of its roots in XP.

The Start menu is on the left instead of center. which most would probably prefer on XP, and as a nice touch there’s also Rover, the cute helper dog. A Winver screenshot was also taken, showing the Windows XP 2024 release in 24H2, which is in line with the 11’s annual feature updates.

Next, we have File Explorer which also features a similar treatment with a combination of the best qualities of Windows 11 mixed with Windows XP.

Finally, we also have the Settings menu and again the YouTuber has done a great job with the design as the thing looks pretty convincing.

You can watch the concept video in full below:

It may not be a stretch to assume that if Microsoft had never removed XP and its UX/UI choices, the concept presented here could have been very close to a reality.
