If you’re looking for a new smartphone, the handset that sits at the top of our guide to the best phones of 2021 is probably a good place to start. The Samsung Galaxy S21 pretty much ticks all the boxes, although the S22 is probably only a few months away.
The best deal we’ve found so far comes from Vodafone and gives you the Galaxy S21 handset, plus unlimited 5G calling, texting and data for just £ 30 per month. This is a cost of £ 721 over the term of the contract, but note that this is a payback deal, where you have to claim money – otherwise it’s just under £ 40 per month .
Assuming you don’t mind jumping through those cashback hoops, this deal is pretty hard to beat. For context, the cheapest phone we’ve seen on its own is for £ 621 from Amazon. Combine that with the current best unlimited data SIM deal starting at £ 192 for 24 months after the refund – and you get a total of £ 812: a much worse deal than this.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 is, of course, a damn good phone in its own right, boasting super speed, a glossy display, and one of the best cameras around.
There are, as editor Nathan Spendelow observed in his review, only minor drawbacks. “The decision to remove the microSD slot and the supplied charger are the only spots on the landscape; otherwise, the Galaxy S21 represents another sublime flagship offering from Samsung, ”he wrote. “If you can live without those two things, there’s no doubt that the Galaxy S21 will be a brilliant companion for whatever 2021 decides to throw at you. “
Yes, the Samsung Galaxy S22 is probably just around the corner. But you can bet it will cost you a lot more than that when it does happen.
