Fourteen-year-old Carter Rubin perhaps delivered the most surprising audition The voice this season. In a preview of Monday’s episode, the teenager took the stage in front of judges John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani to perform Lewis Capaldi’s “Before You Go”, and he wowed them all. “I can’t believe what I’m hearing and seeing right now,” Stefani said. “It’s a shock!”
“You looked polite, you looked strong,” Legend told Rubin. “Your voice has control, which a lot of people your age wouldn’t have, and your tone is high and bright, and it sparkles right there.” Now this is a compliment. Watch the full performance above to see why Stefani and Legend turned their chairs so quickly for the young singer. We can’t wait to see who he chooses to coach!
