There is a new trend on TikTok – Act like you have a crisis – TooFab

Two popular TIC Tac the stars are criticized for their participation in one of the latest controversial trends on the video platform.

Diego Martir, 16, and Haley Orona, 17, who goes through Ona on the app, received a backlash for imitating crises in what many call the “Crisis Challenge”. Fans have criticized both for following the trend, calling the videos “offensive” and “not funny”, especially for those who suffer from epilepsy, seizures or have had a family member who died as a result of a crisis.

In the clips of those who joined the trend, TikTokers can be seen telling the camera something traumatic that happened to them or they recorded themselves as having a seizure. The video then showed the person simulating a seizure and pretending to convulsate, before starting to dance, twerk or shake his buttocks.

Orona, who has a huge 9.1 subscribers on the platform, has since deleted his video following the backlash. However, Martir’s video is still active on his profile.

In Martir’s clip, his girlfriend and fellow TikTok star Lauren Kettering is seen crying in front of the camera as words cross the screen above her. “Diego just had a seizure and passed away, here are the pictures, I’m sorry I have to tell you guys like that” reads the text block while the TikTok sound “something traumatic that changed my life balance “plays in the background. The video then passed to Martir, who was mopping up, before imitating a fit and a twerk.

While several fans started to tear Martir in the comments, he replied: “it’s a trend, pls don’t come for us.” Despite his attempt to explain, TikTok users continued to criticize Martir.

“bruh people really find ANY way to make ANYTHING offensive,” wrote one person and another added, “Even if it’s a trend it’s not funny. Lots of people are died from seizures and your [sic] make it a joke by saying it’s a trend. “

One user even pointed out how the video made them “remember” the Disney Channel star Cameron Boyce, WHO deceased last July after suffering a sleep crisis.

Although Martir did not delete his TikTok, he then apologized, writing: “I didn’t want to disturb anyone, I’m sorry, I say” I’m sorry because it was my idea, I didn’t didn’t think much: / “

The “foreclosure challenge” is not something new, but it has been inexplicably revived. Last fall, many users participated in an even more controversial version of the trend.

While the basic idea was the same, TikTokers would mimic the seizure – and trickle water out of his mouth due to the convulsions – like an edited version of rapper Juice WRLD’s song, “Lucid Dreams” played back -plan. (See the examples in the clip above.)

However, it looked like the viral challenge peaked shortly before Juice WRLD, whose real name Jarad Anthony Higgins, died at the age of 21 in December.

Higgins died after having an attack due to an accidental overdose, according to NPR.
