The calendar doesn’t lie: Halloween is a popular day that should be celebrated and cherished. For many individuals and families, it’s a chance to dress up, put on spooky decorations, and treat themselves to more candy than any rational stomach can handle. In other words, it’s a wonderful time of year filled with the best things life has to offer.
Sandler says he and his family are also drawn into the Halloween spirit, so he’s been wanting to make a Halloween-style movie for some time.
“I’ve been trying to do a Halloween-type movie for many, many years,” Sandler said in a 2020 interview, “I couldn’t come up with a good idea, and then finally we said, ‘We don’t have a good idea, but let’s do it anyway.'”
Sandler flirted with the idea for a while; he played the devil’s son in “Little Nicky” and voiced Count Dracula in the first three films of the “Hotel Transylvania” series. Still, he’s a scary cat.
“In real life, I get scared quite easily,” Sandler said in an interview. “When I come home and the lights are out, I’m not excited, I don’t like it. I push my wife in there and say, ‘What’s going on? Come on, come on, look at the kitchen.’ It is pathetic.”
