Rivian has already unveiled the R1T pickup and R1S SUV and put them into production. The natural question is what comes next – besides, of course, plenty of electric vans for Amazon.

The answer is a third vehicle that would be called the R1X. It is expected to be a smaller and sportier two-row SUV that sits above the first two cars in terms of performance and price.

Automotive trend, citing an unnamed Rivian source, provided more details on what the R1X would look like, including that the common name is the R1X. And the details look like Chuck Norris facts.

According to the report, the vehicle will be “as capable as an all-terrain Wrangler and Defender” and “as quick as a Cayenne Turbo” on pavement. The top trim will pack four of Rivian’s new electric motors for a four-motor system that puts out 1,200 horsepower and 1,200 lb-ft of torque.

When will the Rivian R1X arrive?

Automotive trend a Rivian starting R1X ships in the fourth quarter of 2023 as a 2024 model year vehicle. They estimate pricing will start at $115,000. If this timeline is accurate, the car would likely be announced and unveiled very soon.
