The third generation Peugeot 5008 fits into the already busy European SUV segment in more than one way. Stick to the front-wheel drive model and Peugeot installs a 73kWh battery good for 311 miles. The larger 98 kWh pack means fewer stops at a charging station as the range increases to 410 miles. The dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version benefits from the larger battery, but efficiency suffers due to the vehicle’s higher curb weight.

These batteries are guaranteed for eight years or 100,000 miles during which Peugeot is sure that the charging capacity will not drop below 70%. A heat pump comes standard, as does the 11 kW charger. You can optionally get a 22 kW charger, while DC charging can support up to 160 kW. In this case, it takes 10 minutes to put enough energy into the battery to travel 62 miles. Spending half an hour at a charging station can recharge the battery by 20 to 80 percent.

In recent years, Stellantis has ruled out a Peugeot return to North America, but the STLA Medium platform is likely to underpin a series of electric models aimed at the United States.
