It’s not long before we find out all the details about Samsung’s new Galaxy S23 lineup. These flagship devices are expected to be unveiled later today at one of the Korean company’s famous Unpacked events. Things will start from 6pm GMT but ahead of the big reveal, it looks like we know of a big upgrade that will be hidden inside these devices and it could give them an edge over their Android rivals.
It has long been rumored that US chipmaker Qualcomm will supply all processors for the upcoming Galaxy S23 phones. Now it looks like this Snapdragon brain will be a special edition designed specifically for Samsung.
A recent post by serial leaker Roland Quandt even gave fans a glimpse of this chip which appears to be called Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Samsung. Although unconfirmed, it is believed that this processor could offer performance gains over the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and if true, it could be an absolute powerhouse.
Qualcomm is already promising an extra punch over its previous Gen 1 chip and the S23 could be the Android phone to beat if it gets an even bigger boost.
Alongside the image posted on social media, another leak claims to show Samsung marketing material with the tagline “Galaxy S23 Ultra, the quest for epic mobile gaming is over.” At the bottom of the poster is also another photo of this Snapdragon chip for Samsung.

Along with this speed, the S23 would also have a refreshed design, improved camera, longer battery life and faster charging. If Samsung follows through on last year, it’s also likely that three models will be unveiled, including a standard S23, a larger S23+, and the ultimate S23 Ultra which could get that built-in S Pen.
Full specs, pricing and a release date will be announced on Unpacked and Express.co.uk will bring you all the news live, so watch this space.
