The new BMW i4 arrives next week

With BMW offering such a huge range, there’s always a new model around the corner. After presenting the updated 4 Series coupes and convertibles at the end of January, the i4 will be revealed next week. The electric 4er will celebrate its world premiere in Beijing at the Auto China show alongside the Mini Aceman.

BMW only mentions the i4, without the 4 Series Gran Coupe on which the EV is based. It is unclear whether the combustion engine model will also be present. Spy photos of the zero-emission model have revealed redesigned headlights with boomerang-shaped elements carried over from the recently updated 4 Series two-door models. The front bumper will also take on a fresh, albeit busy, look.

It’s too early to tell if the 2025 BMW i4 will have those awesome laser taillights we saw on the 4 Series Coupe/Convertible. The M4 CSL first got them a few years ago, as did the ultra -exclusive 3.0 CSL. They now carry over to lower 4 Series/M4 models.

Inside, the flat-bottomed steering wheel we’ve seen on ICE-powered two-door models could also be fitted to the i4. Additionally, BMW is likely to upgrade the electric vehicle to its latest infotainment system, iDrive 8.5. We also expect slightly revised center air vents, surrounded by ambient surround lighting, as seen on the 2025 4 Series Coupe/Convertible.

The Aceman, Mini’s first electric-only model, will join the i4 in China. Positioned below the Countryman, the new subcompact crossover will be built locally by Spotlight Automotive. It is a 50/50 joint venture between the BMW Group and Great Wall Motor. The three-door electric hatch is also manufactured at a new factory in Zhangjiagang, China. Both electric vehicles will also be assembled here in Oxford, UK, from 2026.

Auto China 2024 begins on April 25 with the first press day. However, the BMW Group Night event is scheduled for the day before, on April 24.
