An 80-year-old man has died after a ranger rescued him from a sinking truck in Quail Creek State Park.
Doug Schaerrer of Lindon died at Intermountain St. George Regional Hospital on Wednesday, according to a press release from the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation.
Ranger Dylan Urban visited a boat launch in Quail Creek on Tuesday after witnesses saw Schaerrer trapped inside his truck, which was backing up the ramp and filling with water. Urban smashed the window of the truck and brought Schaerrer out. Urban practiced CPR until emergency medical units arrived at the scene. Schaerrer was taken to hospital where he later died.
The incident is under investigation.
