THE Masked Singer revealed Ruth Pointer as Cupcake on Wednesday’s episode of the show.
The contestant revealed that her sister and singing partner, Anita, was supposed to compete with her on the show, although she quit for “health reasons.”
During tonight’s episode of The Masked Singer, Cupcake took the stage to perform the song Heat Wave by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas.
The contestant took part in the Group B round against the duo Banana Split, Queen Of Hearts, Mallard and the new wildcat Caterpillar.
After the performances, host Nick Cannon, 40, revealed that Cupcake was the last contestant to be sent home.
Before Cupcake officially left the competition, the judges guessed who was under the mask.
Ken Jeong, 52, said he thought it was Tina Turner under the mask, while Nicole Scherzinger, 43, guessed The Pointer Sisters’ Ruth.
Meanwhile, Robin Thicke, 44, took Saturday Night Live alum Leslie Jones as his choice and Jenny McCarthy, 48, guessed the performer was Grace Jones.
After the candidate’s identity was revealed, the judges looked visibly shocked as Nick said she “dumped everyone”.
While Nicole’s guess was correct, Ruth revealed the bombshell her sister was supposed to play on the show with her as a duet.
The 75-year-old told the judges: “There had to be two Cupcakes and Anita has health issues that we couldn’t avoid, so I ended up doing it on my own.”
When Nick asked if the eliminated candidate wanted to say something, she shouted at her famous sister Anita, “Honey, I love you! I came to do what I needed to get home and support you.
She continued, “Thanks guys for having me! I’m a huge fan of the show, I watch it all the time.
In addition to Anita, 73, and Ruth, the Pointer sisters included their other sisters Issa, Sadako, Bonnie and June.
Before the unmasking, the Cupcake hinted at her identity saying she was once “around a lot of other people in her career.”
The allusion implied that she was potentially part of a girl group or that she had acted on a TV show with an ensemble cast.
MORE SHOCKING ELIMINATIONS
The judges were equally surprised last week when Larry the Cable Guy was unmasked as a baby.
Before Baby’s identity was revealed, the panelists took turns guessing who the singer in the mask was.
Robin guessed he was Chuck Norris, while Nicole said she thought he was James Corden.
Meanwhile, Ken said it was Gordon Ramsay and Jenny guessed he was Bruce Willis.
After the performer was revealed, Nick pointed out that the judges had guessed he was a contestant over the past seasons by saying, “We’ve said his name so many times and now he’s here in a baby costume. “
Once he had a chance to speak, Larry told the judges, “Everyone was so excited to see Bruce Willis, what a disappointment.
“Everyone thought it would be this great action hero.
“It was my first time singing in front of someone.”
The panelists weren’t the only people in awe of the baby’s true identity, as Nick called him one of the “most recognizable voices of this generation”.
