Apple released the latest betas of tvOS 16.4 and macOS Ventura 13.3, and it looks like we’re getting two new improvements for the upcoming updates.
First of all, ChatGPT has been making a lot of noise for several months, and Google and Microsoft are integrating ChatGPT into their products. According 9to5Mac, the latest beta suggests that Apple is working on a “Siri Natural Language Generation” framework, which will presumably make Siri “smarter” by improving the natural language capabilities of Apple’s personal assistant. Siri has been heavily criticized for being behind other competing personal assistants when it comes to being “less smart” than the competition. However, Apple’s ongoing commitment to protecting user privacy includes the use of Siri. Therefore, it’s time for Siri to change, and we might see more features in Apple’s lineup down the road.
Separately, on the latest macOS Ventura 13.3 beta, Apple is experimenting with a new design for the Apple TV app that’s closely aligned with the rest of Mac apps like News and Photos. The addition of the sidebar makes it easier to navigate for the most common TV app functions like Apple TV+, Content You’ve Purchased, and Watch Now. However, the improved TV app UI is not implemented in the current beta, so we might see this new UI go live in the next beta or so.
