Plinth’s tribute, Marcus, will be played by newcomer Jerome Lance. Marcus and Plinth were classmates before the events of the book, which complicates their mentor-mentee relationship. Marcus is also a Capitol favorite, but his goodwill is hampered during an incident at the Capitol. The Capitol’s inhumane treatment of Marcus partly inspires Plinth’s Rebellion arc.

Kaitlyn Akinpelumi, whose credits include “How to Talk to Girls at Parties” and the upcoming “School for Good and Evil,” will play District 10 mentor Domitia Whimsiwick. I know, the number of characters is staggering, but the prelude can hopefully integrate its huge cast of characters seamlessly, like the original quadrilogy. In the books, Domitia is known for her extensive knowledge of livestock, which comes in handy in the Games. She is the mentor of District 10’s Tanner, who will be played by Kjell Brutscheidt.

Another new face to star in the adaptation, Aamer Husain will play Felix Ravinstill, a District 11 mentor and great-nephew of President Ravinstill, the leader of Panem during the book’s timeline. Ravinstill is mostly a minor character in the books, but whether he plays a vital role in the adaptation remains to be seen.

There are many, many more characters set to appear in “The Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents,” including tribute Coral (Mackenzie Lansing), mentor Festus Creed (Max Raphael), tribute from District 7 Treech (Hiroke Berrecloth) and mentor Vispania Faucille (Amélie Hoeferle), among others.

“The Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents” is set to hit theaters on November 17, 2023.
