The classic Mercedes-Benz motorhome once carried a Swiss hockey team

Nobody can deny the classic charm of old Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Besides the tank-like construction that the Mercs of the 50s and 60s are known for, they are also renowned for their styling.

Both traits are present in this unique Mercedes camper van which was recently sold at Bring a trailer. Originally born as a bus, this Mercedes-Benz O321H bus was introduced in the mid-1950s and produced for a decade in Mannheim, Germany. Before the conversion to a motorhome, the bus was supposed to be used to transport a Swiss hockey team to matches.

Documentation of this interesting construction by Bat goes back up to 10 years. Obviously, she was transported across the Atlantic and spent time in Massachusetts and Michigan before the seller acquired her in 2020.

In its current form, the bus is painted beige with red accents on the body, matching a set of 20-inch steelies. There is some exterior damage declared by the seller, including peeling paint and rust. It comes with three doors, front and rear sunroofs, outdoor equipment cabinets and a ball hitch. What makes this bus more interesting are the 12 skylights that have been used for the tours. This allows a good amount of sunlight into the cabin, giving it a warm ambience.

The classic Mercedes-Benz motorhome can accommodate seven people in individual seats, six of which are covered in vinyl to match the exterior. The central compartment houses the living, dining and kitchen areas, with sofas that convert into beds. The back is reserved for dormitories.

This old-school motorhome is powered by a rear-mounted 5.7-litre straight-six diesel engine, which sends power to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The owner states that the engine has an oil leak.

If you are interested in this version, unfortunately, Bat already sold the bus for $75,321 earlier this month.
