Zoom in from the TAB! Matt Damon proves he’s an everyday Australian guy as he’s interviewed on American TV in front of the slots in a Byron Bay pub
Matt Damon has been living in Down Under with his family since January, and it looks like the Hollywood actor is now a true Australian.
The 50-year-old, who is in Australia for the filming of Thor: Love and Thunder, chose the play area of a Byron Bay pub as the location for an American TV interview on Tuesday.
He zoomed in on NBC’s Today Show as he sat in front of a wall of TAB machines – which would have been unfamiliar to American viewers but would be instantly recognizable to Australians.
Zoom live from the TAB! On Tuesday, a Byron Bay pub stayed open especially for Matt Damon so he could be interviewed on American television about his friend Ben Affleck’s reunion with Jennifer Lopez.
Matt revealed that the pub owner allowed him to stay past closing time so he could chat with today’s hosts without other patrons coming.
During the interview, he was also asked about his longtime friend Ben Affleck’s romantic reunion with his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez.
“I’m in Australia, I drink a beer. The people at the local club were kind enough to leave it open just so I could do it [interview],’ he said.
He added: ‘They have the best internet connection in this neighborhood where I am. ”

Matt said: “ I love them both. I hope it’s true. That would be great.’
Co-host Savannah Guthrie said, “We need to talk about something,” as Hoda Kotb added: “Very important topic.”
“You’re a friend Ben Affleck and a little thing we call Bennifer,” Savannah said. “How do you like these apples?
Matt looked uncomfortable after saying this in the virtual interview.
The movie star burst out laughing and then said: ‘There isn’t enough alcohol in the world for you to make me say something about it. ”
Hoda continued, “ Did the news air in Australia? How did you know Bennifer was a thing again, maybe.
“I just heard you guys waiting to come on TV. It’s the first time I’ve heard of it, ”he said, looking away from the hosts.
‘And what did you think?’ Savannah continued.
“It’s a fascinating story,” he laughs.
‘I like both of them. I hope it’s true. It would be great, ”he added.
