The Apprentice returns for series 17 and it promises to be “bigger and better than ever” as 18 contestants vie for Lord Sugar’s investment – and Claude is back!

The Apprentice is set to return for an all-new series in 2023 and it promises to be “bigger and better than ever”.

Round 17 will see 18 contestants – the highest number since Round 13 – vying for Lord Sugar’s £250,000 business investment, with competition as tough as ever as they are thrown into the deep end from day one.

The new series will see the return of no-frills businessman Claude Littner for two episodes, after missing out on a starring role in the last series due to a horrific biking accident.

Lord Sugar will also be joined by his trusted advisers Baroness Karren Brady and Tim Campbell MBE, who will be on hand to report on the candidate’s progress to the boss.

The next BBC series will see the contestants fly to Antigua where they will be tasked with creating and selling excursions to tourists.

While those not lucky enough to be taken to a sunny location on the first task will have to face their own difficult challenges at home.

Other challenges awaiting contestants in this series include creating their own cartoon, making and selling street food, hosting immersive events, and diving into the world of male beauty.

With more challengers facing them, the stakes in Series 17 are higher than ever as aspiring businessmen and women face off in the boardroom while hoping to avoid the dreaded black cab.

In addition to the main show, comedian and actor Tom Allen will return as host of The Apprentice: You’re Fired which airs weekly on BBC Two after the main programme.

Series 16, which aired earlier this year, saw Harpreet Kaur crowned the winner and scoop Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment after a dramatic final showdown against Kathryn Burn.

The dessert parlor owner said she plans to ‘upgrade’ her successful coffee and cake business after her victory with the aim of becoming a leading brand in the UK.

Speaking of her win, Harpreet, who also runs a candy delivery business, exclaimed, “I can’t believe Lord Sugar chose me to be his business partner!”

The dedicated businesswoman said she was not in the business to ‘make friends’ but planned to ‘make some money’ in her new partnership with business tycoon Lord Sugar.

She said: “I’m definitely not in business to make friends, I’m here to make money and I’m pretty sure Lord Sugar isn’t looking for a new mate.”
