The 1975s Respond to Taylor Swift Collab Rumors

Matty Healy has responded to recent speculation about a potential collaboration between The 1975 and Taylor Swift.

In 2019, Healy said he wanted to produce an “intimate acoustic album” for Swift. The frontman later explained that he didn’t take the opportunity to ask the pop star to team up on a project when the duo crossed paths at the 2020 NME Awards.

Last month, Healy appeared as a guest star on a “leaked” tracklist for Swift’s 10th album “Midnights” (out Oct. 21), which he later confirmed was fake. Swift has since revealed the album’s song titles in full online.

In response, Healy tweeted, “You actually thought Taylor Swift was gonna have me on her album [laughing face emojis].”

During the 1975 session in the Live Lounge yesterday (October 11), BBC Radio 1 asked Healy if he could share details of a possible Swift/’75 collaboration.

“Oh no, we’re not [working together],” he replied. “With pleasure… to like work with Taylor Swift. [I] I love Taylor Swift…I think she’s one of the best songwriters. Yeah, no…we didn’t do that. We would love to, wouldn’t we? »

Drummer George Daniel replied, “Yes please.”

Healy went on to joke that Swift was “probably” watching their interview and “craving a feature on a 1975 track.”

Before settling on a cover of Take That’s “A Million Love Songs”, The 1975 tried out a version of Swift’s 2019 single “Lover” for Live Lounge Month 2022. See two excerpts from their interview on Radio 1 below.

Swift’s longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff worked on 1975’s fifth album ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language,’ which is out Friday, October 14. Antonoff was also involved in the creation of “Midnights”, Swift recently confirmed.

Over the summer, Healy revealed Swift’s reaction to hearing “Being Funny…”.

Although The 1975 did not appear on “Midnights”, the album will feature a collaborative song with Lana Del Rey titled “Snow On The Beach”.

In a new social media video, Taylor Swift said she’s “such a huge Lana Del Rey fan” and opened up about the significance of the common track.

“‘Snow On The Beach’ is about falling in love with someone at the same time they fall in love with you,” she explained.
