Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert split after 10 years together: “Still a hell of a team” – Billboard

Teyana Taylor has confirmed that she and her husband Iman Shumpert have separated. The singer gave an update on the couple’s relationship on Sunday afternoon (September 17).

“In all honesty, Iman and I are broken up and have been for a while,” Taylor wrote in an Instagram post. “To be 1000% clear, ‘infidelity’ is not one of the reasons we left.”

She added: “We are still best friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children. Most importantly, we are a FAMILY and in 10 years together, 7 years of marriage, we have never played with or about THIS.

The singer and former NBA player married in October 2016, after announcing their engagement at Taylor’s baby shower in November 2015, while she was pregnant with their first child, Junie.

Junie was born in December 2015 – delivered unexpectedly by Shumpert himself at home in the couple’s bathroom – and they welcomed their second child, Rue, in September 2020.

In her Sunday note, Taylor explained why they kept quiet about their split. “We just keep you out of the group chats lol, that’s the reason we were able to separate successfully and peacefully without all the outside noise,” she said. “The only reason I’m sharing THIS part of the chat is because the stories are getting a little out of hand and it’s unfair to all parties involved. I hope this has brought you some clarity.
