Australian tennis golden girl Ash Barty, 25, will make her acting debut on Sunday.

The female No.1 will feature in a spooky new TV campaign for Uber Eats, which will air during the Australian Open.

According to the Sunday Herald Sun, the promotion sees Ash pay homage to the 1980 psychological horror film The Shining, with “haunted ball girls and apparitions”.

Ash told the publication that despite her “very limited” acting skills, it was “good” to “get out of her comfort zone.”

“I’m a tennis player, not an actor, and it’s good to push myself and get out of the comfort zone a bit. The crew and team made me feel really welcome and most importantly we had fun,” she said.

Ash also joked that she hadn’t taken any acting lessons, saying, “I just roll with it, mate.”

Earlier this week, Ash revealed the unusual post-game meal she swears by, involving a bizarre mix of two “iconic Aussie” treats combined.

The athlete told 9Honey that she likes to mix a classic meal of chicken parmigiana with a condiment that many would frown upon – a dollop of Vegemite.

Ash brands the dish the “Barty Parmy,” which involves brushing the fried schnitzel with a generous drizzle of Vegemite on top of the cheese, before placing it in the oven for five minutes.

Ash told the publication that she came up with the idea alongside the Vegemite team, saying, “I think a parmy and Vegemite are both iconic Aussies.” Creating a dish where we combined the two seemed like a good idea.

“Vegemite on toast makes me feel at home, it’s one of those comforts you really appreciate when you’re away,” she added, before confirming that she likes to take a bath in her bag every time she travels.

She also said that she likes to eat the dish when celebrating a win and will pair it with different sides depending on whether she is training or not.

“When I work out, I would say a salad would be the best side dish,” she said. “When I’m not training, probably fries and salad!” »

Ash, who pulled out of the Sydney Tennis Classic to head straight to Melbourne to prepare for the Australian Open, has had a lot to celebrate in recent months.

In November, it was revealed that Ash was engaged to her boyfriend of five years, Garry Kissick.

Ash broke the news in an Instagram post, sharing two photos of the pair cuddled up with their diamond ring on display.

Ash wrote in the caption, “Future Husband,” alongside a ring emoji.

Golfer Gary, 29, also shared the footage on his own social media, revealing the couple had in fact gotten engaged a week earlier on November 15.

He wrote in his caption: “15/11/2021 love you @ashbarty”.

The Aussie tennis star met Gary at Brooklands Golf Club in Queensland in 2016 while out golfing, and they’ve been together ever since.
