Americans are far more Lover fans, while Brits are more likely to opt for 1989
Taylor Swift is set to embark on her highly anticipated Eras tour of the United States next week. After the release of Midnights last October, she has 10 albums and over 200 songs to her name, raising the question of how she will condense her discography into a set list.
Now a new YouGov survey, conducted in the UK and US, explores his ultimate fan favourites.
What are Taylor Swift’s fan favorite albums?
Among self-proclaimed British Swifties, Taylor’s fifth studio album 1989 topped the charts, with just over a fifth (22%) saying it was their favourite. Topping the UK charts, a majority of fans say they like (35%) or like (27%) the album.
In second place is Red, with 15% of Taylor Swift fans claiming him as their overall favourite. Long considered a fan favourite, Taylor released her re-recorded version of Red (known as “Taylor’s Version”) in November 2021, and 57% of fans in the UK say they like it (33%) or liking (24%) either variant of the album.
Taylor’s most recent release, Midnights, also topped the UK album charts following its October 2022 release and is currently ranked sixth among her UK fans with 7% claiming it as their favourite.
By comparison, Taylor Swift fans in the US ranked Lover as their ultimate favorite at 14%, although their rankings are much more clustered, with five albums receiving between 10% and 14% of the votes.
What are Taylor Swift’s favorite fan songs?
The Eras Tour is meant to celebrate Swift’s entire career so far, with many fans wondering what songs she’ll be performing.
After claiming No. 1 on the albums chart, 1989 also features the UK fan favorite song: Shake It Off. Indeed, 28% of those who have a favorite song say the UK number 1 hit is among their favourites.
In second place is Love Story, from Taylor’s album Fearless, with 16% saying it’s one of their favourites. Closely following that in third is one of Taylor’s most recent singles, Anti-Hero, from her latest studio album Midnights, with 12% of fans with a favorite song claiming it as one of their favorites of all. time.
Among American fans, the field is again more diverse. Love Story is the fan favorite, at 19%, with 16% echoing UK fans saying Shake It Off is the best song. Unsurprisingly, given the greater popularity of the album Lover in the US, the eponymous song is also more popular there, at 11% to 3% in Britain.
In what order should Taylor’s remaining re-recordings be released?
Taylor Swift has begun a process of re-recording some of her older albums from her catalog, having already re-released Fearless and Red, and there has been much speculation about which albums Taylor will release next. But what order do his UK fans want the albums to come out in?
Unsurprisingly, given that it tops the list of UK fans’ favorite albums, it’s more common for fans to want 1989 to come next, with over a quarter (28%) the ranking first.
Following this, Taylor’s debut album “Taylor Swift, Debut” was ranked first for remastering by 13% of UK fans.
And, despite rumors that it will be the next re-release, only 9% of UK fans say Speak Now is their dream re-release next. Finally, 7% of UK fans want Reputation to be updated in the future.
In the US, 25% of fans also rank 1989 at the top, but just as many (26%) say they want to see Taylor Swift, Debut get priority for remastering.
