It’s still technically summer until September 23, but Taylor Swift is one of the many celebrities already dressing for fall.
The singer was photographed in New York wearing a black dress, black knee-length Christian Louboutin boots and a plaid coat as she dined with Greta Gerwig, Zoë Kravitz and Laura Dern at Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria on Monday.
Dern appeared in Swift’s “Bejeweled” music video last October, while Kravitz is a longtime friend of Swift’s. (Kravitz even wrote pieces about Midnights with her.) Gerwig is a new addition to Swift’s circle — and an intriguing one, given that Swift herself is about to direct her first feature film, and Gerwig is coming off huge commercial success as director and co -screenwriter of barbie.
Swift spoke about having Dern play the evil stepmother in her rendition of Cinderella for “Bejeweled” and how that led to a friendship.
“So basically I was thinking about Midnights, the concept, and I was wondering where do we often hear about midnight? We hear this a lot when we talk about the Cinderella fairy tale and I thought, what if we did a little twist on a Cinderella story and I got to choose my friends? Swift recalled when the video came out. “My best friends, the Haim sisters, what if they played half-sisters? And I said to myself, what if we really aimed for the stars with the other castings. What if it was Oscar winner Laura Dern who played my mother-in-law? I was like, “Laura Dern, Oscar winner, hello, I wrote a screenplay. It’s a one-scene scenario where you’re going to call me a tired, nerdy girl. And she told me: I’m depressed. She’s the coolest. She’s so funny. It’s another one, I say ‘Friend’ to him. You are my friend now. Directing Oscar winner Laura Dern is easier than anything I’ve ever done in my life. She is simply the best and I can’t even believe I say things like that.
