Taylor Swift ‘thanks’ Kim Kardashian for Tortured Poets song as she reflects on her feud – The Independent

Taylor Swift fans are convinced the musician is alluding to her years-long feud with Kim Kardashian on her new album. The Department of Tortured Poetssince she apparently makes several references to the reality TV star in her song “thanK you aIMee.”

The pop star released her 11th studio album at midnight ET on Friday, April 19. Just hours later, she announced a “surprise 2 a.m. release” that expanded the record to 15 additional songs.

The first sign that the 24th track from her new album could be a reference to Kardashian is the capitalization of the letters K, I and M to spell her first name.

There are other clues. It appears Swift might be referring to Kardashian’s 10-year-old daughter North West dancing to her 2014 single “Shake It Off” on TikTok. “Shake It Off” is about ignoring the “haters.”

“And maybe you reframed it,” Swift sings.

“And in your mind, you never beat my black and blue mind/ I don’t think you’ve changed much/ And so I changed your name and all the real determining clues/ And one day your child comes home at home singing/ A song only the two of us will know is about you.

After marrying West in 2014, Kardashian was by his side when he received the Vanguard Award at the VMAs.

Seeming to show that any animosity was suppressed, it was Swift who presented him with the award. However, in a later interview, Swift claimed the two did not speak behind the scenes.

She said rolling stone: “I’m standing in the audience with my arm around his wife, and this shiver ran through my body.

“I realized he was so two-faced. That he wants to be nice to me behind the scenes, but then he wants to look cool and stand up in front of everyone and say stupid things. And I was so upset. He wanted me to come and talk to him after the event in his dressing room. I will not go.

Then, in 2016, West released his song “Famous,” which featured the lyrics: “I feel like me and Taylor Swift might still have sex/Why?” I made this asshole famous.

She refused and warned him against releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never informed of the actual lyrics: “I made this bitch famous. »

This led many to call Swift a “snake” and this backlash led to the pop star taking a break from the public eye.

“My career was taken away from me,” Swift said Time in an interview for his 2023 Person of the Year award.

“You have a completely fabricated frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, that Kim Kardashian edited and then released to tell everyone I was a liar. It took me psychologically to a place I had never been before.

“I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t move out of a rental house for a year. I was afraid of receiving phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I no longer trusted anyone. I went down really hard.

“I thought that moment of reaction was going to define me negatively for the rest of my life,” she said.
