Taylor Swift may be out of luck in the touring arena at the moment, but her awards success is unbroken. The singer broke her own record to remain the most decorated American Music Award winner of all time. Swift picked up all six awards she was up for at the ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 20, including Entertainer of the Year. Swift now has 40 AMA wins under her belt, the most of any artist in the show’s history.
In addition to Artist of the Year, Swift won Favorite Country Album, Favorite Pop Album and Favorite Music Video for her 2022 Red (Taylor’s version) reissue. (In 2013, Swift’s Red also won Favorite Country Album.) Swift also won Favorite Female Pop Artist and Favorite Female Country Artist.
Wearing a shimmering gold jumpsuit with her wavy bangs swept to the side during the “Our Song” era, Swift thanked her fans in a touching acceptance speech for Entertainer of the Year, saying they encouraged her to release more music than she ever has in the past few years.
“You, the fans, made it clear that you wanted to hear a lot of music that I would make. You encouraged me. And so I found that the more music I made, the more music I released, the happier I was. The more I kept this channel open and kept creating, kept doing stuff,” Swift said. “So I have to thank the fans, basically, for my happiness, and I love you more than I can say.”
It was a year of victories for the singer who also had many VMAs 2022, taking home three trophies for Too good: the short film, including the top prize for Video of the Year.
Swift will be vying for more awards at the upcoming 2023 Grammys which are due to take place on February 5, 2023 and whose nominations were announced last week. by Swift Too good: the short film will be up for song of the year and best music video, while “Carolina” by Swift, Where the Crawdads sing, is up for Best Song Written for Visual Media, and “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)” is up for Best Country Song.
The 2022 American Music Awards took place on Sunday, November 20 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles with Wayne Brady as host. Harry Styles, Bad Bunny, BTS and Beyoncé have also won major genre awards, while Lionel Richie has received the prestigious Icon Award.
