Friday, Adam Schefter announced that Apple Music will be the official sponsor of the Super Bowl, taking over from Pepsi. By making this change, it’s possible the NFL also hinted at who this year’s performer might be.
For years, Taylor Swift was one of music’s biggest stars, but couldn’t do the halftime show because she’s sponsored by Pepsi’s direct competitor, Coca-Cola. Now that Pepsi is out as the show’s sponsor, Swift can do the show without breaking her contract with Coca-Cola.
But, as Swift fans will tell you, there’s more to this theory.
Schefter reported the announcement at midnight, a time of day associated with Swift through her upcoming album, Midnights. It is therefore possible that Swift will perform at the Super Bowl in order to promote her new album in front of the whole country.
This is when the NFL usually announces the Super Bowl Halftime Show performer, so we should find out who will get the honor very soon.
