Taylor Swift Reportedly Turned Down Super Bowl LVII Halftime – AL.com

The NFL pass to Taylor Swift for the Super Bowl LVII halftime show has fallen incomplete, according to multiple reports.

According to TMZ, the NFL asked Swift “months ago” to perform at Super Bowl LVII.

However, Swift, the superstar country pop singer-songwriter known for hits like ‘Shake It Off’ and ‘Blank Space,’ turned down the offer because she was focused on re-recording her debut albums. . People also reported that Swift declined to perform at Super Bowl LVII.

Speculation intensified Swift would be the next halftime performer following the announcement of Apple Music as the show’s sponsor. Pepsi was previously the sponsor and is the arch-rival of Coca-Cola, with whom Swift has a long-term marketing and endorsement partnership. Swift has previously starred in Apple Music commercials.

Super Bowl LVII is scheduled for Feb. 12 in Glendale at Arizona’s State Farm Stadium, home of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals. Last year’s Super Bowl LVI halftime show, held in Tampa, featured rap-focused programming featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Hundred and Anderson .Paak.

Like many artists, Swift doesn’t own the masters of her early albums. In 2019, Ithaca Ventures talent manager and record label executive Scooter Braun acquired Big Machine Records, the label that released Swift’s first six albums.

Swift, often touted as one of the finest songwriters of her generation, passionately denounced Ithaca’s acquisition of its early masters. However, former Big Machine president Scott Borchetta claimed that Swift refused to buy the masters. Swift countered that she should have signed a nondisclosure agreement to buy the masters and never saw a firm number. Swift’s masters were later sold to investment fund Shamrock Holdings.

After releasing three new LPs between 2019 and 2020 (“Lover”, Folklore” and “Evermore”), in 2021 Swift released “Taylor’s Version” remakes of her 2008 album “Fearless” and 2012 record “Red”. Recently, she announced plans to release her 10th studio album, titled “Midnights,” on Oct. 21 with Jack Antonoff, who has worked on all of Swift’s albums since her now classic “1989” co-production.
