Apologies to Taylor Swift fans who thought the new music was due to arrive Friday, May 13. While the Swifties haven’t received any re-recorded songs or vault tracks (yet) this week, there’s one thing they now have to look forward to: new merchandise.
Taylor Nation, Swift’s management account, posted an unspecified countdown via Instagram Story on Friday, leading many fans to believe another album release – her re-recorded version of 1989 Where Speak Now – was on his way. Speculation that the album (or albums) was about to arrive comes in light of his dropping the “Taylor’s version” of the 1989 track, “This Love”, which officially arrived with the release of Jenny Han’s trailer The summer when I became pretty Last week.
Instead, the countdown was for all-new summer-themed merchandise in Taylor’s official store, aptly titled the Swiftie Summer Collection. The new merchandise collection includes a range of beach towels, pool floats, sunglasses, muscle t-shirts, tumblers, portable fans, fanny packs, an activity set and more . Accessories prices start at $15, while wearables start at $40. “The high tide of clear blue water has come and brought you this new product just in time to #SwiftieSummer! Available now while stocks last at store.taylorswift.com”, Taylor Nation tweeted.
In light of declining merchandise and no update on the upcoming re-release, Swifties took to Twitter to express their grievances and the embarrassment they felt at hoping for the album to be released. . “Goffer us products instead of #1989Taylors versiontalk about a cruel summer,” one fan wrote, referencing Swift’s 2019 track Loverin response to Taylor Nation announcing the new fan merch.
