Taylor Swift Raised My Generation To Be “Fearless” Forever – Unkantelope

Who would have thought that writing songs about horrible breakups, revenge and love could have such a powerful influence on our society? For as long as I can remember, Taylor Swift has been my heartbreak and “OMG I love her so much” songs since I was in 4th grade with my first iPod.

When Taylor’s “Fearless” album came out in 2008, I was only 7 years old. However, when I started listening to his music, I was around 10 years old. When I was 12, I went to see his album “Red” live and it’s been a lasting memory ever since.

Much like her song “Fifteen,” Taylor tells her young teenage audience that we’re not supposed to know who we are yet. For the rest of my teenage years, she continued to release music. She was teaching me, in my head, how to love…sort of, as much as a 15-year-old freshman can be in love.

Taylor remained relevant in our generation, at least to me, for 11 years and more to come. She dropped a huge bombshell on her fans when she re-released her ‘Fearless’ album and added ‘Taylor’s Version’ to the name.

It was absolutely CRAZY for me. Last year when he came out I was at a completely different stage of life than when I started listening to his album “Fearless”. This re-release showed his fans and me how far we’ve come in life and put me in a nostalgic moment listening to these songs again.

Taylor then dropped another bombshell on her fans and on me when she announced that she would be releasing another new album on October 21, titled “Midnight,” with a total of 13 songs. I can not wait!

Although I am much younger than her, I feel like I watched her grow up and she was there for me as I grew up as well. Taylor taught me to be “fearless”, to “speak now” and to live “red”, so thank you Taylor.
