Taylor Swift owns more than half of the entire song chart in a single country – Forbes

Taylor Swift released her new album The Department of Tortured Poets a week ago, meaning the title has now had a full seven days to rack up streams and sales worldwide. It’s time for the feature and its tracks to start debuting on the charts in major music markets, and the singer’s dominance is now underway.

In Australia, tunes of The Department of Tortured Poets not only reach the ranking of the most consumed songs in the country, they prove the incredible popularity of the star. Swift owns more than half of all spots on the songs chart, and almost entirely with tunes from her exciting new set.

On ARIA’s 50 song chart – the 50 spots visible to the public, anyway – Swift’s name appears in 29 spots. This represents more than half of all real estate available in the ranking.

Swift’s new single “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone debuts at No. 1 in the country. It’s his twelfth lead in Australia, and the fourth for the breakout star.

Songs of The Department of Tortured Poets fill out the entire top 10 this week. Swift scores 10 new top 10 hits in Australia, significantly increasing her career total with a host of new immediate wins.

Of his 29 top hits domestically, all but one came from The Department of Tortured Poets. Only “Cruel Summer”, his recent global hit from his 2019 set Lover, manages to hold on and continues to gain places in a ranking that has this time become much more competitive thanks to Swift’s latest blockbuster. This move goes from #9 to #38.

Last week’s champ, Hozeir’s “Too Sweet,” narrowly missed breaking Swift’s top 10 winning streak. The single rose from No. 1 to No. 11, allowing the American singer to break into take over the entire region.

The Department of Tortured Poets is also an easy new No. 1 for Swift on the Australian albums chart. She has now reached the top spot with 13 lucky titles, her lucky number.

Swift may see similar performance in some other countries, like The Department of Tortured Poets and his songs are starting to make an official impact on charts around the world. In the UK, she will be handicapped by a rule that says musicians can only claim three spots at a time as lead artists, even though she is supposed to control the highest trio of spaces. In the United States, when the Hot 100 is refreshed in a few days, there is a very good chance that she will manage to control the entire top 10 for the second time in her career.
