“I cringe but I miss her.”
Taylor Swift gave us contemporary moments from her past throughout the week, starting with a re-recorded version of her 2012 album. Red, which fell last Friday while Red (Taylor version) to reflect the new rights on the recording.
The singer-songwriter also appropriated something else yesterday – a pair of 2019 photographs that depict her pretty drunk and became a viral meme when they first hit social media two years ago. .
Snapshots show Taylor, or “Drunk Taylor,” as memes viewed her, enjoying a party she threw around the time of that year’s MTV Video Music Awards. Taylor shared them on Instagram yesterday with the captions, “Drunk Taylor was his name” and “Mojitos was his game”.
Taylor shared the old photos as part of a longer Instagram video, which saw her sync to the lyrics to “Nothing New (Taylor’s Version)”. The song starred Phoebe Bridgers.
“I cringe but miss her,” Taylor captioned the post. “Your @phoebebridgers movement.”
But there were a few lyrics in “Nothing New” – particularly the rather straightforward admission “I Drank Too Much Tonight” – that fit in perfectly with this Instagram comeback.
