As Miley Cyrus once asked, “WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?” Mastermind Taylor Swift just posted another “vault” animation to her Instagram, and it’s both more and less cryptic than her previous sneaky posts.
For context: As she releases her “Taylor’s Version” albums and their previously unreleased “From the Vault” tracks, Swift has taken to posting fun little digital animations of vaults opening, complete with titles new old songs coming out. But because she’s Taylor, they appear as anagrams, with the letters rearranged, and Swifties have fun decoding them. Here’s the one she posted for Fearless TV:
And here Red television:
She didn’t do it for Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) for unknown reasons, but still. After previously announcing the upcoming release of 1989 (Taylor version)Swift took to Instagram on Tuesday, September 19, to drop a blue safe with seagull animations, the overall aesthetic of the 1989 album cover and era. Since she already said there were five “from the vault” titles coming, I of course expected five jumbled titles, but that’s not what we got. Instead, the letters (and punctuation) are, in order: T, “, S, U, !, “, L.
There are two words she could spell and they are LUST! And SLUT!
Honestly, I’m glad we can have a song with either title, but does this post mean she’s going to release four more trunks with the other song titles? Exactly how intense will this album cycle be? 1989 (Taylor version) will be released next month, so we won’t have long to wait, but… damn!
The other possibility is that the five pieces begin with T, S, L, And !, respectively, and the quotes are just for fun. Personally, I really hope she has a song called “Lust” or “Slut” because you know they would go so hard.
